When the owners of this charming three-bedroom townhouse in Paddington approached Hunter Bathrooms Brisbane, their vision was clear: modernise their dated bathrooms and maximise the use of space. What resulted was a stunning renovation that seamlessly blends contemporary design with timeless elegance.
The Brief: Modernising a Dated Space

The owners of this Paddington townhouse approached us with a clear goal: they wanted to modernise their dated bathrooms and make better use of the available space. While the original layout was functional, the aesthetic was tired, and the functionality didn’t match the lifestyle of a modern couple.
As leading experts in Bathroom Renovations Brisbane, our team was tasked with delivering a high-end finish that maximised space without the need for major structural upheavals.
Smart Solutions & Spatial Planning
One of the key aspects of this renovation was the decision to keep the majority of the plumbing in the existing locations. This is often a smart move for budget-conscious renovations, as it reduces labour costs while still allowing for a complete visual overhaul.
However, to meet the client’s desire for improved functionality, we did make one crucial plumbing adjustment. We upgraded the vanity from a single sink to a double sink configuration. This required running extra plumbing to accommodate the dual basins—a small change that adds significant value and convenience to the ensuite.
To further optimise the floor plan, we replaced the bulky hinged door with a sleek cavity slider. We also shifted the door opening slightly to the left. This minor structural tweak was essential to ensure the new, larger vanity didn’t encroach on the doorway, creating a better flow and making the room feel far more spacious.
The Standout Feature: Harper Vanity
The hero of this ensuite is undoubtedly the vanity. We installed a stunning Harper 1800 Double Vanity on Legs in a rich Florentine Walnut finish.
This piece is a true showstopper. The serrated drawer fronts add incredible texture and dimension to the room, breaking up the smooth surfaces of the tiling. Raised on legs, the vanity maintains a sense of airiness, which is vital in townhouse bathrooms. It is topped with a luxurious Grey Travertine benchtop and paired with two Robbie matte white basins, featuring finger-pull handles for a seamless, minimalist look.
Finishes & Fixtures
The material selection for this project was all about creating a warm, sophisticated atmosphere.
- Tiling: We utilised History Italian 600×600 tiles from floor to ceiling, creating a grand, cohesive backdrop that draws the eye upward. In the ensuite, we added a specific feature wall behind the vanity using Matt White 125×125 tiles. This subtle textural shift frames the vanity area perfectly.
- Tapware: To complement the warm walnut tones, we selected fixtures in Brushed Bronze from Nero Tapware. This finish adds a touch of understated luxury that chrome or matte black simply cannot match.
- Shower: The shower screen is completely frameless, enhancing the open feel of the room. We paid attention to the smallest details, ensuring the hinges and handle matched the brushed bronze tapware for a unified look.
- Mirrors: To soften the straight lines of the tiles and cabinetry, we installed arched mirrors. The curves introduce a gentle, organic element that balances the design.
The Result

This Paddington project is a testament to how thoughtful design and quality fixtures can transform a standard townhouse bathroom into a luxury retreat. By combining smart spatial planning with premium Australian products like the Harper vanity and Nero tapware, we delivered a space that feels significantly larger, more modern, and incredibly inviting.
