Transforming a Dated Cottage Bathroom into a Modern Oasis
Hunter Bathrooms Brisbane recently completed a stunning main bathroom renovation in a Holland Park workers cottage. This project showcases our ability to breathe new life into old, non-functional spaces, creating beautiful and practical bathrooms for our clients.
The Challenge
The original bathroom was in dire need of renovation:
- Non-functioning fixtures
- Significant floor damage, including a hole
- Outdated design
- Impractical layout
Our Solution
We began by completely demolishing the existing room to address the extensive damage and create a blank canvas for our redesign. Our team then implemented several key improvements:
- Shower Relocation: We moved the shower to the window area, creating a walk-in design for easy access and use. This also addressed the previous water leakage issues.
- Increased Storage: By framing up the old shower space, we added two linen cupboards in the hallway and a built-in shelving unit in the bathroom. The shelving unit’s timber matches the vanity in an elegant Grange Green colour.
- Modern Fixtures:
- Heated towel rail for convenience
- New exhaust fan and IXL heater for improved ventilation and comfort
- Recessed 1200mm 3-door mirrored shaving cabinet with integrated lighting
- Beautiful above-counter basin with a diamond edge pattern
- Stylish Finishes:
- Floor tiles: 600×600 in “Jelly” colour
- Wall tiles: Floor-to-ceiling 300×600 in “Breeze Matt,” laid in a horizontal stack bond pattern
The Result
The renovation transformed this small, outdated bathroom into a calming and highly functional space. The new walk-in shower with a luxurious rain head is a standout feature, offering both style and practicality.
By carefully selecting colours, materials, and fixtures, we’ve created a bathroom that not only meets the client’s needs but also adds value to their home. The combination of the Grange Green vanity, matching shelving unit, and coordinated shaving cabinet sides adds a touch of sophistication to the space.
