Kenmore Ensuite Renovation: A Small Space Transformation

Located in the leafy suburb of Kenmore, this charming ensuite renovation showcases how thoughtful design choices can completely transform a compact bathroom space. Hunter Bathrooms Brisbane was delighted to work with our clients to modernise their little ensuite, creating a fresh and contemporary feel whilst maintaining the room’s existing plumbing layout.

Project Overview

This straightforward renovation project focused on updating the ensuite’s aesthetic appeal without any technical plumbing changes. The small space presented the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how carefully selected fixtures and finishes can maximise both style and functionality in a compact bathroom.

Before

Design Features

The renovation centred around creating a cohesive design palette that would make the space feel larger and more luxurious. The standout feature wall showcases Argyle Khaki green subway tiles laid in a striking vertical stack bond pattern with crisp white grout, creating visual interest and drawing the eye upward to enhance the sense of space.

Complementing this feature wall, the remaining surfaces were finished with elegant 600×600 Mystone Berici tiles, installed floor to ceiling for a seamless and sophisticated appearance. This choice of large format tiles helps to minimise grout lines and creates a clean, uncluttered look that’s perfect for smaller spaces.

Fixtures and Fittings

The vanity selection perfectly balances functionality with style, featuring a Prime Oak woodmatt finish with V groove detailing and convenient push drawers with no handles for a streamlined appearance. Above the vanity, Elite matt white oval basins provide a contemporary touch, paired with sleek in-wall tapware that maintains the clean lines throughout the space.

Storage solutions were carefully considered with two semi-recessed Newport White 450×900 mirrored shaving cabinets, featuring rounded edges for a softer aesthetic that complements the overall design scheme.

Coordinated Finishes

The bathroom’s cohesive look is achieved through the consistent use of brushed bronze fittings throughout, including the frameless shower screen hinges and all tapware. This warm metallic tone beautifully complements the green feature tiles and natural oak vanity.

A new rimless tornado toilet with white push buttons and matching toilet lid covers maintains the seamless white aesthetic, whilst practical additions like repositioned towel rails behind the sliding door maximise the usable space.

Lighting and Ventilation

The renovation included updated lighting with new downlights, an exhaust fan, and a heating light to ensure the space is both well-lit and properly ventilated. The existing brick-look glass window was retained and enhanced with new architraves, maintaining the room’s natural light whilst updating its appearance.

The Result

This Kenmore ensuite renovation demonstrates that even the smallest bathroom spaces can be transformed into stylish, functional retreats. The combination of quality fixtures, thoughtful design choices, and expert installation has created a beautiful ensuite that our clients are delighted with. The project showcases how a straightforward renovation approach can deliver impressive results when the right elements come together.
