Project Overview
The renovation began with the careful removal of asbestos, ensuring a safe environment for the family and workers. The room’s layout underwent a significant transformation, with the old pivot door being replaced by a new cavity slider positioned in the middle of the wall, creating a more efficient use of space.
Window Upgrade
To enhance the natural beauty of the surroundings, the outdated louvre window was removed and replaced with a new awning window. This change not only modernized the space but also allowed the homeowners to take in the picturesque views of leafy Indooroopilly.
Plumbing and Layout Changes
The project involved a complete overhaul of the plumbing system, as the positions of the toilet, shower, and vanity were all reconfigured. The old nib wall that previously concealed the toilet on the back wall was removed, opening up the space into one large, airy room.
Tiling and Finishes
The floor was adorned with 600×600 light grey tiles, providing a spacious feel, while the walls featured 200×400 white matte tiles laid in a horizontal brick pattern, adding a touch of contemporary elegance. The hardware chosen was the York range in chrome with ceramic white handles, perfectly capturing the desired heritage look.
Vanity and Features
A 1500mm double bowl vanity from the Chantel range by ADP was installed, featuring shaker-style cabinet doors with chrome handles to complement the overall design. The addition of undermount round basins set in a marble off-cut brought an extra layer of texture and sophistication to the space.
Space-Saving Solutions
An in-wall toilet was chosen to maximize space at the door entrance, contributing to the room’s overall sense of openness.
Decorative Elements
To add character and a splash of color, wallpaper was applied behind the vanity, creating a striking feature wall. A delicate half-shell light fixture was placed between the mirrors, introducing a soft, ambient glow to the room.
Shower Screen
The shower screen was finished with an elegant arch design, echoing the shape of the arch mirrors and adding a touch of softness to the overall aesthetic.
This thoughtful renovation by Hunter Bathrooms Brisbane has successfully transformed an outdated bathroom into a harmonious blend of heritage charm and modern convenience, perfectly suited to the character of this Indooroopilly worker’s cottage.
