In this recent project, Hunter Bathrooms Brisbane tackled the renovation of a second-floor apartment ensuite in the inner Brisbane suburb of Hawthorne, transforming a water-damaged, poorly utilized space into a stunning modern bathroom that perfectly balances style with functionality.
The Challenge
The original ensuite presented several challenges that needed addressing:
- Water damage requiring immediate attention
- Inefficient use of limited space
- Impractical layout with poorly positioned basin and mirror
- Dated color scheme and fixtures
- Need for future-proofing with accessibility features
Innovative Space Planning
The renovation began with a strategic redesign of the layout. By relocating the basin to the end wall, we created space for a sophisticated recessed mirror cabinet above – a vast improvement from the previous impractical side-mounted mirror. The Stadium mirror cabinet, featuring a distinctive curved edge, was thoughtfully recessed into the wall to maximize space. Its interior matches the vanity’s finish, revealing beautiful wood grain detailing and glass shelves when opened.
Premium Materials and Finishes
The material selection focused on creating a cohesive, contemporary aesthetic while ensuring durability:
- Vanity: Custom-designed with all-drawer configuration in sophisticated Antico Oak woodmatt textured finish
- Countertop: Elegant composite stone in Carrera
- Basin: Round above-counter design in seasalt concrete, adding subtle texture to the space
- Tiles:
- Floor: 600×600 travertine-look tiles for timeless appeal
- Walls: Matt white Bree tiles (300×600) for a clean, contemporary feel
- Fixtures: Striking gunmetal gray tapware, shower fittings, and rails
Thoughtful Features
Special attention was paid to incorporating both luxury and practical elements:
- Heated towel rail under the window for added comfort
- Strategically placed assistance rails in the shower and toilet area for future accessibility
- Built-in shower niche for convenient storage
- Streamlined, doorless shower design with fixed glass panel for easy access and modern aesthetics
- Upgraded rimless back-to-wall toilet

The completed renovation showcases Hunter Bathrooms Brisbane’s expertise in creating sophisticated, functional spaces. The ensuite now features a perfect blend of modern design elements while addressing practical needs.
